Brick - So Good!

If you haven't seen Brick yet, you definitely should. It's quite possibly one of the best movies we've seen in years. The story is smart, the dialogue is intriguing, there are some brillant scenes and the pace is classic film noir. It'll probably leave soon, so check it out this week!

I am bummed that The Devil and Daniel Johnston came and went without getting a chance to see it. Think it'll have to be a "Reel Art Cinema" revival night.

Art School Confidential is coming up soon....it's based on Dan Clowes' "Eightball" and has John Malkovich in it....we should all go together....and remember to bring the cocktail weinies! (a Phil Tiger tribute.)

Trinity Sessions this Friday at AD

Trinity Sessions returns to AD this Friday and every 3rd Friday of the month. It's free and a great way to start your evening downtown. Your host this month, Patricia Black, has put together a great lineup to get your night rolling along. Local poet Patula Lee kicks it off, followed by SF based singer/songwriter Mark Silverman (some of you may remember Mark from his visits to AD with the Perpetual Motion Roadshow - he's great), and Kaila D'Sa... we saw him for the first time at an open mic at the SoFA Lounge. He's another great reminder of the buried treasures that live/work amongst us here in San Jose.

Artist & Craftsman pulling out

The San Jose Merc reported that Artist & Craftsman Supply is giving up it's downtown location after three years. We are sad to see them go. In their first months they had partnered with Phantom Galleries in marketing efforts and it seemed to work... when they first opened up they had a record store opening of any of their other locations. But as the store changed managers,

Misha_Residency

Misha's work will be on view through April 21st!

We invite you to attend the closing of Misha's Residency exhibition here at Anno Domini. If you attended the opening six weeks ago, you'll know Misha was asleep for the duration of it. Well, he's been working everyday on the "marks of inspiration" you all left him and will be showing all 80 of the transformed completed works. All works will be for sale, first come, first served.

We are sad to see Misha go....it's been a wonderful experience having him here each day, so talented and dedicated to this performance/body of work. Join us for this farewell party and yes, he will be awake!

Telepresent Tug-of-War - Tues., 04/11

Michael Weisert presents his thesis show, Telepresent Tug-of-War: Proxy Battles, tonight, April 11th, simultaneously at Anno Domini and SJSU's Art Building in Gallery 2. The piece is described as a haptic artwork which blends the performance of sport with modern technologies allowing for competition across vast distances. The artwork re-creates force exerted by one player onto the opposing side using sensors and (2 ton) winches. In the Proxy Battles, these two sides will be Anno Domini and San Jose State University Gallery 2.

The exhibit will be available for battles between 6pm - 7pm, followed by a brief presentation and Q&A.

Video of the piece can be downloaded at : http://mweisert.com/media/ttofwar.mp4
