While in Sao Paulo this last July visiting Bruno 9Li, we spent alot of amazing time (and adventures!) with Stephan Doitschinoff, aka C'alma. His imagery is a meeting between elements of the sacred arts and alchemy to urban art and the pop culture.
He's native to Sao Paulo although he's been known to move around alot. Just before we hooked up with him in July, he had spent several months in Bahai, a poverty stricken village with the intention to bring a little life and light to their neighborhoods with his murals.
We'd like to congratulate him on his solo exhibit (although he's had solos internationally, this is his first in Sao Paulo) at Choque Cultural, a great gallery in SP. The body of work is based on his perceptions of the Divine Comedy, a series he did as a commission for the band Sepultura. Check out his work and then come meet him in person when he has his debut US solo exhibit here at Anno Domini in May 2008!
