To all of our friends around the world we are thinking of you this holiday season.
May the new year bring us together!
Thank you Matt for the amazing video-come see us in SJ.
Jason's been working on this broad body of work for nearly a year now based on Medici era Rome. They are beautifully done in oils and have a satisfying tension of stoic gaze with gothic beauty.

Black and Brown presents the Black & Brown Winter Fashion Show
The good people at Black and Brown have another amazing event in store for us tonight. If you've ever been to one of their fashion shows, you know what we mean. And, well... if you haven't, think of it as a mashup of fashion show + performance art + live music. It's highly conceptual from the clothing itself to the brilliant minds behind the sound featuring DJ Cutso (Fingerbangerz) San Jose's Panthelion. Oh, and speaking of mashups... just for fun, let's throw in an Opera singer to make it interesting!

I caught wind of this via @timoreilly on twitter. It was announced yesterday that researchers from Japan’s ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories have developed new brain analysis technology that can reconstruct the images inside a person’s mind and display them on a computer monitor! One of the many possibilities arising from the discussion of this discovery that I find especially fascinating suggests "that a future version of this technology could be applied in the fields of art and design — particularly if it becomes possible to quickly and accurately access images existing inside an artist’s head." Talk about mashups!
Some of the more frightening thoughts running through my head may lead to a new collaboration with M dot Strange featuring a cameo by the thought police.

This recession isn't lost on our friends, GOOD HUSTLE. They understand that the holidays can be cold and pricey and often full of terrible music. So, in an effort to kill three birds with one show they proudly present to you.... A free performance of GOOD music in a warm place. Come out for an all acoustic set this Saturday at Cafe Trieste in downtown San Jose. Joining GOOD HUSTLE will be that smooth and spacey kid David "I just put out a new recording" Knight. See you downtown!
"I think this world deserves art that comes from places of necessity." ~ David Ellis
My introduction to the artist David Ellis came a couple days ago when Jeffrey Inscho at the Mattress Factory tweeted "why i heart David Ellis." I've always loved art (like literature) that appears to transcend its own inherent nature. There's an undeniable essence that you recognize in Ellis' work and it's refreshingly beneficial to hear him speak of it. If you find yourself in and about Pittsburgh on December 18, 2008 head over to the Mattress Factory at 7 p.m. to hear David speak about his work. I'm hoping that they tape the event so we can catch it online too.
