Sad News from LOMOland

We received the sad news that the Lomo LC-A has ceased production. We at A.D. gallery are out of stock and there are a LIMITED number available if you order from our NY headquarters while supplies last. There is talk of a new version being created so we'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, we still have the Action Samplers, Supersamplers, Holga, and others available. Long live LOMO comrades!

The original and one-and-only Lomo LC-A camera has been taken out of production. Some of the most beautiful items ever created (the original VW bug, Constellation, Tupolev, Concorde and Illushin airplanes, Polaroid SX-70's, Olivetti typewriters, Lambretta scooters, Commodore 64 computers, Wacker Innsbruck, etc.) have disappeared despite the enormous love and respect that they command.

According to the LC-A's Russian factory (LOMO PLC), the LC-A has proven too expensive to continue given their existing structure. As they no longer produce any cameras outside of the LC-A, they lost key manufacturing synergies. Engineers and craftsmen experienced in 35mm cameras are a dying breed. Wages and energy costs have skyrocketed. Our beloved LC-A consists of 450 individual parts, and is extremely labor-intensive to construct. The days of its precise assembly by hand have come to an end and its production is no longer cost-effective within their new structure.

The Best news is that a task force of Russian, Chinese, and Austrian brains are feverishly working on a new and vastly improved Lomographic camera. Cross your fingers and believe: if this baby is born, it will be the ultimate LOMO snapshot machine - complete with plenty of innovative and exciting new features. The precision and soul of Russian optics, the efficiency of Chinese production, and the Lomographic fever of Austrian ideas & design will forge the camera of your dreams and the Lomo-fied answer to your prayers. Take this to heart - the new Lomo will be the greatest compact camera ever conceived.

Anno Domini presents Underskatement this Friday, April 22, 2005. The doors open at 8pm, film screens at 9pm sharp. Admission is $5 at the door.

Underskatement is a traveling exhibit of short films made by skateboarders. This year the films have been shown all over the United States as well as Canada, Europe, South America, Australia and Asia. It is composed of all types of films--narrative, experimental, documentary and political.

UnderSkatement is a forum to showcase the natural creativity of skateboarders; it is not just a collection of skate videos, but rather hopes to show all the other things that make up a skater's life.

David Choe NYC

David Choe has his first "real" exhibit in NY entitled "Tokyo Prison Art" at Power House Gallery on Friday April 22, 2005 at 6pm until close. David says: "I wanted to hold off on this show until I had collected all my sketches and thoughts into a publication of some sort. But that will have to wait. I'm not in such a big hurry to revisit all my jail time memories. I just got all my XXX rated prison drawings and paintings I did with soy sauce and my piss, using the tip of my socks."
Good luck David - wish we could be there!

APE this weekend

The Alternative Press Expo is this weekend, April 9 &10th at the Concourse SF. This is one of our favorite yearly events....better than Comic Con because of it's DIY vibe. Indie publishers of comics and zines are present at their own tables ready to tell you all about their work without an Ewok in site.
