A group of three vastly different and unusual performers are make their way to San Jose!
The Perpertual Motion Roadshow is an indie press touring circuit, an unholy combination of a vaudevillian variety show and a punk rock tour. Each month three new lively indie performers pile in a car and do seven cities in eight days, doing shows with the bold guarantee: NO BORING READINGS OR YOUR MONEYBACK!! Founded by No Media Kings, making their own fun since 2003 -- running on pure volunteer power and dirty dirty gasoline.
This month's PMR tour features:
comedienne zinester
MARY VAN NOTE
from San Francisco!
d(sc(rip)t)or poet
OLATUNDJI AKPO-SANI
from Boulder!
groovin' singer-songwriter
YEHUDA FISHER
from Toronto!
Admission: Free and open to the public.
Mary Van Note's edgy and unique style of stand-up comedy has already been recognized by various Bay Area comics as a refreshing up-and-coming talent. After developing a cult following at the UC Santa Cruz campus, Mary Van Note has started her stand-up career in the Bay Area to big laughs, moans, dirty looks and scared faces. In her off time she writes short stories, comic books and zines, finished a novel titled Blue Balls, and performs in the sketch-comedy group "Sunshine Fortress." www.maryvannote.com
Olatundji Akpo-Sani grew up in Rochester, New York. He moved to Boulder, Colorado at the age of 21 and has spent the last eight years improving and performing his unique style of poetry in the Boulder and Denver area. He is married to Lisa Bendetto and currently has a stepdaughter, Sierra. Olatundji is co-editor and founder of Baobob Tree Press, which he runs out of his house. He has four books of poetry: Bricolage, Panopticon, Dive, and most recently, MonkeyShines; he has appeared in Poems from Penny Lane and Illiterate magazine. www.myspace.com/baobobtree
Yehuda Fisher lives in Toronto with two computers and a dozen instruments... almost. This 27-year-old brass player, singer, songwriter, and actor has been in the Toronto arts scene for years, both entertaining and terrorizing audiences around the city, depending on who you ask. Formerly he hosted and produced Art Attack, a weekly magazine show for CHRY 105.5 FM, and worked as a freelance arts publicist. He now hosts the very successful series WordJam: Poetry/Music Fusion Playtime. Yehuda often plays trombone with the Parkdale Social Club and other local musicians and is currently working on recording his first album. yehudafisher.coffeehouse.ca
