Perpetual Motion Roadshow at Anno Domini!
Perpetual Motion Roadshow #39...
Thursday, December 14th at 8pm
The Perpetual Motion Roadshow is an indie press touring circuit, an unholy combination of a vaudevillian variety show and a punk rock tour. Each month, three new lively indie performers pile in a car and do seven cities in eight days, doing shows with the bold guarantee: NO BORING READINGS OR YOUR MONEY BACK! Transnational, it loops the northeast May-October and makes runs down the west coast during November-April. Founded by No Media Kings, they've been making their own fun since 2003 -- running on pure volunteer power and dirty dirty gasoline.
PMR #39 features...
singer/songwriter/spoken word sensation
TROY CURTIS from San Jose
opens the show!
irreverent guitarist
OCHO
from Minnesota!
unicorn pop poet
MIKE YOUNG
from Ashland!
the common man's poet
T-POE
from Portland!
Ocho has been performing original songs for almost ten years. His songs reflect a mind that's upbeat, thoughtful, irreverent, frustrated, and inspired. They give the listener something to laugh at, like the futility of survival in the modern world, and the lack of answers to important life questions: "What's our ultimate purpose?" and "How can I make money without really DOING anything?" At 16, he unwittingly started a punk-rock scene in a rural South Dakota town that still thrives. He recently received his Master's degree in counseling psychology. His latest CD, "GoriillaBuddha," explores the stupidity and healing power of that science.
Mike Young is a major proponent of remote-controlled grace. He co-edits NOÖ Journal (www.noojournal.com), a free literary and political print magazine distributed all over and online. Plus he publishes stuff: poetry and fiction, in lovely indie magazines like Pindeldyboz, Opium Magazine, elimae, Juked, Wordriot and 3AM Magazine. Somehow, despite the smog and android droppings that dominate modern air, he has also managed to develop a singing voice. It is independent from his body. It pays scant rent. Check out his blog Dragonfly on a Dog Chain at www.noojournal.com/blog.
T-Poe is a native of Portland, Oregon. He is a Combat Veteran of the Vietnam War, which has influenced his poetry greatly. Although he has no formal writing education, he has written extensively about the war as well as the wonders of nature and the condition of this animal "man" as he have experienced them. He knows only that which he has seen and felt, and hope you may, through his words, experience thoughts and emotions foreign and fascinating, if not familiar and comforting.
