Hera "Therapy Dropout" exhibit

Hera _ Therapy Dropout exhibit
Hera (Frankfurt, Germany) has an amazing exhibit up at Fifty24 in San Francisco through July. She and Akut are usually known for their collaborative works (aka HERAKUT). Hera's work is more graffiti/street art based whereas Akut is more smooth and realistic which makes for very intriguing qualities to their collabo pieces. Thereapy Dropout is Hera's first solo endeavor - an impressive debut.
"If you paint what you feel, you drag it out of yourself and put it in front of you, where you can see it and deal with it. Once that's done you can turn your back on it and leave it behind. Others will eventually paint over it, but that doesn't matter, because you had never planned on keeping it anyway. You're moving on. That's it," states Hera of the meaning behind her Therapy Dropout exhibit.
There are photos here.

Playing the Building by David Byrne in NY
Creative Time presents Playing the Building, a 9,000-square-foot, interactive, site-specific installation by renowned artist David Byrne. The artist transforms the interior of the landmark Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan into a massive sound sculpture that all visitors are invited to sit and “play.” The project consists of a retrofitted antique organ, placed in the center of the building's cavernous second-floor gallery, that controls a series of devices attached to its structural features—metal beams, plumbing, electrical conduits, and heating and water pipes. These machines vibrate, strike, and blow across the building’s elements, triggering unique harmonics and producing finely tuned sounds.
There's a great interview by Anne Pasternak, curator of Playing the Building, with artist David Byrne about the ideas behind this installation, and his other work. Read it here...

Homouroboros lights up San Jose tonight!

Homouroboros at Burning Man 2007
UPDATE: Homouroboros Dedication Ceremony May 17th!!
Please join burners, press and public for the Black Rock Arts Foundation ribbon-cutting ceremony for Peter Hudson's Homouroboros installation! This will be the official kick-off for the Zero1 festival, and the beginning of an entire month of monkey business in downtown San Jose.
The dedication will take place at 6pm on Saturday, May 17th at the Children's Discovery Museum - Discovery Meadow (directions here). Once the ribbon is cut by Melissa Alexander, Executive Director of BRAF, and Peter Hudson, the artist and creator of Homouroboros, the drums will start to pound and the zoetrope will start to spin. Get ready for what Wired Magazine called the winner of the "WOW, did you see that?" survey at Burning Man 2007.
Reception follows the ceremony, 7pm - 9pm at Anno Domini gallery with food and refreshments. Be sure to see this incredible zoetrope at its best ... in full dark ... to appreciate the effects under the strobe lights of what scientists call "the persistence of vision". We'll all walk over to the monkeys at 9pm for a full night experience!

Homouroboros by Peter Hudson in San Jose
And don't forget, this piece will be in Discovery Meadow from May 15th - June 15th. Come by during the day, too (we'll have special daytime viewers available). Bring friends, family, kids, neighbors and co-workers! It's free to the public and a perfect fulfillment of BRAF's mission to place experimental, highly interactive art in public settings.
===================================
Volunteer Docents Needed To Host Homouroboros!
The Black Rock Arts Foundation is about to install a huge animated zoetrope full of life-sized monkeys in Discovery Meadow from May 15 to June 15, and we need some unique volunteer help to ensure the public touches it!
Wired Magazine called Peter Hudson’s Homouroboros winner of the 2007 “Wow, did you see that?” award at Burning Man, among hundreds of unconventional expressions of radical creativity. Triggered by the public playing drums, the 24’ high 30’ wide spinning installation features strobe lights at night and shutter glasses by day to give the appearance the monkeys are swinging through a giant Victorian-era tree sculpture.
Homouroboros is perhaps the most interactive, viscerally intense, and engaging public art most people have encountered. It is coming to the park, not a museum, as an experiment, because San Jose is one of the most diverse cities in the nation and this free gift is for everyone. To support an amazing public experience with high-tech art so unconventional, we seek docents to staff the installation, invite folks to play with it, answer questions, and call our support team of Monkey Wrenches if anything breaks. Won’t you help? Please email: southbay@burningman.com.
We especially need docents during daytime hours, beginning 10AM, and we would especially love groups from companies, schools, cultural, or community organizations to host for a shift or two. We expect crowds 10AM-10:30PM since Homouroboros will be actively promoted as a preview to the 2nd Biennial 01SJ Global Festival of Art on the Edge, coming June 4-8 - don’t miss that!
Engaging passers-by who are totally amazed by a giant art installation we’re hosting is an experience we love, and invite you to know. We also invite you to know us, since this installation and the Black Rock Arts Foundation are both about stimulating community and civic participation through art. We deeply appreciate Anno Domini and Phantom Galleries' strong support of this project and our mission.

The Big Sad: Barry McGee & Clare Rojas

The Big Sad: Barry McGee & Clare Rojas
Riverside Art Museum
Exhibition Dates: March 30 - May 17, 2008
Opening Reception: Sunday, March 30, 2008, 4-7pm
Barry McGee and Clare Rojas have long been associated with the "Mission School", a loose collection of artists inspired by the culture of the street, particularly in the Mission District of San Francisco. Their works are often shown clustered together, mixing handcrafted paintings with scraps scavenged from the street and with photographs and other artwork found at thrift stores.
Barry McGee is a giant in the graffiti world, an artist known as much for his technical skill as a "tagger" as for his inclusion of new material, technology and street culture in his installations. Although rooted in graffiti subculture, he references all forms of vernacular art, including comics, folk art, and hand painted signs. McGee's installations often involve images painted directly on the wall, loud animations, mechanical totems, drawings on paper, bright geometric patterns, and assemblage sculptures such as smashed cars and old signs. In addition to traditional paints, McGee uses pens, spray paint (including paint applied with pesticide sprayers) and screenprints on a variety of materials.
Clare Rojas' art simultaneously references hard edge geometric art and handmade folk styles, as well as traditional European fairytales and quilts. She works with gouache, acrylic and latex paint on paper, wood panels, and directly on gallery walls. Rojas depicts men, women, and animals in magical settings, and her narratives reverse sexual stereotypes. Men are portrayed nude in provocative poses. Cackling, old ladies with headscarves are shown wielding sharp objects. However, for all this menace and disruption, there is a delicate feel to the work, especially in Rojas' paintings of domestic life, animals in nature, or lonely individuals reinforced with a quiet power.

LISTEN/VISION 02

Friday, March 21st. 2008, 7-9pm
San Francisco Art Institute Lecture Hall
800 Chestnut St. San Francisco, CA 94133
LISTEN/VISION is a unique series exploring the art of perception. It is a place and time for a shared experience of sound and light and space. Volume and Overlap.org have partnered to commission new and unreleased sound and video works from an international pool of acclaimed contemporary artists. These exclusive pieces, not to be found anywhere on the web or a CD, are presented in a collective listening environment. Links: Overlap.org Volumeprojects.org
Featured Artists:
GREGG KOWALSKY – “Rosebud for Red Magus” – 2006 – 18:17 min. Kowalsky’s compositions range from drone and noise pieces to the psychedelic, which are highly influenced by the thick, humid air of South Florida where Gregg lived for most of his life. He is interested in filling the spaces his music occupies through dense, live mixes. He has composed for film, dance, acoustic ensembles and sound installations. Gregg’s debut full-length album, Through The Cardial Window was released on the Kranky label in Spring 2006. http://ossobucco.net
DAVID KWAN - SOLARIS - 2006 - 10:07 min. Sound-generated video projections; dimensions and running time variable; video projection with sound. David Kwan composes soundscapes using live radio signals and feeds them into a customized video imaging system to reveal visual patterning and to electromagnetically alter their dimensions. The end result is an electronic form of painting that is constructed from sound but manifested as light. http://www.meridiangallery.org/davidkwan2003.html
CHIKA and I8U - Infinity02 - 2008 - 30:38 min. Unlimited or unmeasurable in extent of space, duration of time: the infinite nature of the fabric of space. CHiKA uses minimal objects in two-dimensional space to create a video work invoking the feeling of the unlimited possibilities, approaching the unmeasureable nature of the infinite. I8u’s soundscapes inspired by the concept of string theory mirror our limited understanding and imagination of these strings as they slip in and out of the dimensions we are aware of. The audio and visual moves from a closed world with perspective as its corresponding symbolic form. http://www.i8u.com http://www.imagima.com
SAWAKO – “untitled” – 2006 – 15:18 min. Sawako is a Tokyo/NYC-based sound sculptor who understands the value of dynamics and the power of silence. After beginning in video art, Sawako shifted her focus from the video camera to sound. Once through the processor named Sawako, sounds in everyday life - field recordings, instruments, voice and electronic sounds - float in space vividly with a digital yet organic texture. Her unique sonic world has been called “post romantic sound” by Boston’s Weekly Dig. http://www.12k.com/sawako.html

Graphic Storytelling as Activism
Graphic Storytelling as Activism
Euphrat Museum at Deanza College
Artists include: Seyed Alavi, Oliver Chin, Charisse Domingo and De-Bug, Sharon Hing, Keith Knight (2004 A.D.), Lingshan, America Meredith, Favianna Rodriguez, Shorty Fatz (2007 A.D.)
Graphic Storytelling as Activism presents a variety of art forms, including cartoons, political posters, digital art, book art, and more to explore a range of imagery with an activist bent. It began with graphic storyteller Keith Knight, who sees comics and cartooning as a powerful tool for social change. They have been "communicating information, concepts, and ideas since the days of hieroglyphics. They can transcend language, class, and race. Knowing the tools and concepts of cartooning allows anyone to be a mass communicator… You don’t need a million dollars. Just a pen and a piece of paper."
In this exhibition we took Knight's ideas a bit farther, adding other tools to enable one to build communities through community-based arts, to address issues of the day, locally and globally, and to tell the personal story with the larger context, historically and culturally.
Exhibit dates February 11 - April 17, 2008
Thurs., Feb. 21st, 2:30pm Multi-media presentation in Classroom S-32 with an artists' reception to follow at 4pm at the Euphrat Museum.

World's First Urban Art Auction
About five years ago we went down to L.A. to see an exhibit by BANKSY -in a little house gallery in Silverlake (L.A.). We loved his street art and thought it'd be great to meet him and go to the after party that was in a little warehouse in an industrial area downtown. The exhibit had about 20 pieces....his stencils transposed to canvases, prices starting at about $150-$200. We weren't that into them, we thought they were better on the streets...still do feel that way.
Well Bonham UK just held the "world's first urban art auction" tonight and there's one of those canvas pieces from the L.A. show (pictured above)...it went for $121,000. Banksy dominated the sales although Blek LeRat, Faile, D*Face and Nick Walker did well, Keith Haring seemed to pale in comparison. Bonham says: Exciting, fresh, edgy and challenging, interest for works was fever-pitch throughout the sale with 99% of the work selling - a truly extraordinary phenomenon that the market has never seen before. In other words, we had no idea what a cash cow this was going to be!
Any one that's thinking street art is not a viable genre of art for the history books...think again. This is just getting started. (In Banksy's hometown of Bristol, the city is trainining cleaning crews to recognize Banksy work so they won't buff it....he's important to the promotion of the city.) The good news is there are so many amazing artists with incredible talent that are still affordable that if you're an emerging collector, there's definitely room on the ground floor.
You can see the Bonham auction results here. (btw, we never did get to meet Banksy...that would've been nice.)

Kamau Patton exhibit opens at Machine Project
We're big fans of Kamau Patton and Machine Project in Los Angeles so it's great news to see them come together. Kamau's recent endeavor is described as "equal parts religious rite, glam spectacle and public access television show."
His installations always bring a personal cosmology to bear on existing folk narratives. For this exhibit at Machine, Kamau’s work investigates the media produced by African American cult activity in America, including the 5 Percent Nation, Nuwaubian Nation, and the Black Hebrew Israelites. The dialog also includes his perception of the Nature Of The Universe.
MP's beloved next door neighbors, the Echo Park Film Center, will be screening dance and music videos from Senegal and the Ivory Coast selected from Kamau’s collection during the opening.
Exhibit Opening: September 22nd, 8 p.m.
The exhibit runs through November 3rd

"The Ghost" by Richard Colman at White Walls
Richard Colman (2006 AD) opens his new exhibit The Ghost, tomorrow night, Saturday, September 8th, at White Walls in San Francisco. His narrative style continues to both remain familiar and evolve with the likes of inverted bears, masked men, regal queens, slithering serpents and bat-winged boys. It's like running into a friend you haven't seen in a while; life's changed them a bit on the surface, as you might expect, but you'd recognize them anywhere. Definitely check it out! It's on view through October 6th.

Disney, Banksy tops da Vinci with the under 25
A recent survey, commissioned by Arts Award in London, asked 6400 people to name their top 10 art heroes. The survey was then split into two categories, 18-25 and over 25. It's probably not much of a surprise that Walt Disney was ranked number 1 with the under 25 sect ...I wonder if they really meant "Walt Disney the person"? or "Walt Disney the corporation" that cranks out blockbuster cartoons. If you look at the under 25 list, they do seem heavily reliant on the mainstream media to get their cultural references, which is not a surprise, but it is interesting that street artist BANKSY made BOTH lists as an art hero.
Here's the breakdown:
The overall top 10
1 Leonardo da Vinci
2 Bob Dylan
3 Andy Warhol
4 Walt Disney
5 Peter Kay
6 Jane Austen
7 Banksy
8 Bob Marley
9 Nick Park
10 Picasso
The 18- 25-list
1 Walt Disney
2 Peter Kay
3 Banksy
4 Leonardo da Vinci
5 Bob Marley
6 Jane Austen
7 Bob Dylan
8 Tim Burton
9 Marilyn Monroe
10 Will Smith

"Another Night Upon Us" exhibit in L.A.
![]()
Michael Muller, Alive with Anticipation, 2005
From the Poem: Zombie Stroll
M+B gallery in Los Angeles is currently showing Another Night Upon Us, a photographic exhibition featuring the works of Michael Muller. The exhibit is a collaboration between actor Joaquin Phoenix, writer Marcos Johnson from San Jose (2006 Trinity Sessions at Anno Domini), and photographer Michael Muller. Another Night Upon Us is a photographic interpretation of Johnson's evocative poems as envisioned by Phoenix and carried out by Muller.
Another Night Upon Us, is a work-in-progress glimpse of their collaboration to date. It runs through June 23 — an exhibition consisting of Muller's large-scale photographs interspersed with Johnson's poetry, scrawled in chalk directly onto the gallery's walls.
According to Phoenix:
"Marcos came up to me one night. We talked. He reminded me of a cat I saw in Mexico once. He was kind. He'd also been bruised. He sent me some writing one day. It was emotional. I don't know anything about writing or art in general (read this, and check my collection), but Marcos' words didn't seem like they'd been written. More like they'd been discharged. He simply wrote what he felt. I admired that. I wanted others to read it. There might even be a lost one that finds it comforting. Or a nestled one that finds it irritating. Or it's for a decimated heart. Or a pretentious, rich actor, designer sunglasses and all, that would buy a 20 foot photo of the Black Panthers . . . I don't know. I don't really care. I like it. So . . . I thought about doing a book combining photography and writing using Marcos' words as the inspiration for the photographs. The only person I knew that could internalize Marcos' stories, and then reinterpret them visually, was Michael Muller. I met him before. He took me to get a picture framed in the Valley. He drives like a drunken gorilla on speed. I vomited. He seemed unfazed, merely muttering into his cell phone, "We got a live one." He'd be perfect for Marcos' writing. Initially I'd wanted to "act" the character of Marcos for each poem. I thought the combination of poems, photography and acting would be interesting. Of course, I was wrong. What happened, in turn, was that after introducing Michael to Marcos, and discussing and working on the idea, something much more organic took place. Over the last year, with ANOTHER NIGHT UPON US in mind, Michael has captured some startling, and visceral images. The marriage of their mediums has been amazing to watch. I wish I were capable of doing something that could even come close to their dirty, beautiful, poetically simian expression. Michael keeps shooting. Marcos continues to write. I still like it . . . "
Michael Muller's work has graced the covers and pages of magazines including Glamour , Elle , Rolling Stone , Harper's Bazaar , Detour , Spin , Flaunt , The New Yorker , Sky , Marie Claire , Premiere , ESPN , Esquire , Interview and Time . His signature style has been solicited for major campaigns such as Speedo, Nike, Airwalk, Dodge and Cingular, as well as for albums for artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Velvet Revolver and Jerry Lee Lewis. Muller is currently documenting Marvel Studios first film Ironman and has just completed work on Spiderman 3, Fantastic 4, Heroes, Friday Night Lights, as well as many other film and television projects. After more than a decade and a half of living, traveling, and working in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris, Muller once again calls Los Angeles his home, along with his wife and daughter.

Michael Muller, A Little Light has Entered, 2007
From the Poem: Plumb Perfect
PLUMB PERFECT by Marcos Johnson, 2007
I was born
A Water-Bearer
Who couldn’t Bear
To see things
So,
I fought Fire
With Fire
Which meant
I was always fighting
With myself
Since what was inside of me
Was the one thing
I couldn’t Bear
To see most
However, now
A little light
Has entered
Broken through
The bubbling cauldron
To where the Well
Was waiting
To be plumbed
With the pen
The infinite pool
That couldn’t be poisoned
No matter how many times
I used it
As my own personal
Waste dump
Toxicity too high
To do anything with
It almost went to waste
But the skies kept
Crying
For me
Filling it
With fresh water
To make use of
If and When
I was ever ready
My imperfections
Are much too obvious
At my age
Many of them
Will never go away
And I am
Probably
My most pure
On these pages
And even then
I’m not always sure
Sometimes
The readers write me
And ask
What I mean
Sometimes
They say
The words are beautiful
Sometimes
They say
They’re Vile
Sometimes
I grow
Despairing
And my words
Are too hot
To handle
Sometimes
It’s steam
And the more of it
That rises
Out of me
The cooler I get
Get it?
It all
Depends
On how deep
I dip
The dipper
That day
Can YOU
Dig it?

Poor Al is at it again with a NYC version of COLLABRO, co - curated with Triston Eaton. The Anno Domini version was quite amazing, but they've added even more to the mix in this version (for example: Ron English x Daniel Johnston!), there's way too many brilliant artists to list, so check the lineup here.
It happens Saturday, June 9th from 7-11pm
at the Showroom NYC, 117 Second Ave., 2nd Floor, New York City.
And for those of you that missed it here at AD, or NYC, don't fret, there will be a final LA showing TBA!

Fosik NYC exhibit
AJ Fosik (AD 2001 & AD 2004 with RotGut cohort KGBE) has an exhibit of new works opening tonight in New York City at Jonathan Levine's gallery.
When we first encountered AJ & KGBE's work (Fosik had just left Detroit and moved to NY) they were hanging their art pieces high up on poles in the early Sunday morning hours when no one was around.
For their second show with us, AJ drove cross country not only with his art installation for the gallery, but all of his belongings as well (including his cool vintage scooter!)....he had decided to move to Southern California...now he's showing back in NY...the universe has such a strange sense of humour! We wish you the best AJ!

AVAIR Opening in Second Life this Friday!
Organizing light in the time and space of the projected image
(the determination of an Image-Space)
Brad Kligerman Ars Virtua Artist-in-Residence (AVAIR)
Opening Friday April 20 (23:59 SLT) & April 21 (12:00 SLT - noon)
Artist and Architect Brad Kligerman has turned the idea of art making upside down or rather inside out in his AVAIR exhibit. Kligerman questions the idea of materiality in the rendered environment and the nature of image. He successfully blends the idea of moving through "space" with the idea of moving through image in his new multi-sim installations.
Over the course of Kligerman's eleven week residency he has collected images from various experiments in SL. These images have been deftly applied to objects which form a path through three "machines." Kliger uses these machines to extract data from SL in order to understand materiality, quote the history of art and painting and contrast with what has become "traditional" Second Life architecture. The end result is a series of places where image and space become one.
"In contrast to projects that view virtual worlds as simply another node in a communication strategy, this project attempts to find another creative and productive scenario by interrogating the physical and material extents of SL."
"This project recognizes synthetic space not for its faculties of communication, but rather for its potential as a representational, sensational medium. "
"Image resonates on its surface, through its envelope and beyond its physical reach, to capture, through the distribution of space, its tangible atmosphere. Avatars merge in image, emerge through the image, we lose ourselves in the image, of art, only to reemerge through it. The colors, lights and forms, the tensions and compressions of the space's force, superpose to project an « Image-Space » "
AVAIR is an extended performance whose purpose is to investigate the nature of art making in the 3D synthetic environment of Second Life. It is an examination of policy and institution, as well as a reflection on place and art. Artists are given a stipend and technical support. They are expected to have an open studio, produce an exhibition, and make a public presentation. Their methodologies are documented here. Orchestrated through the classic structure of the gallery, the performances run at any time of the day or night, and create a platform for exchange between artist and audience.

“AVAIR” is a 2006-2007 commission of New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc., (aka Ether-Ore) for its Turbulence web site. It was made possible with funding from the Jerome Foundation.
Ars Virtua is a new media center and gallery located in the synthetic world of Second Life. It is a new type of space that leverages the tension between 3-D rendered game space and terrestrial reality, between simulated and simulation. Ars Virtua is sponsored by the CADRE Laboratory for New Media.

IL LEE's "Ballpoint Abstractions" at SJMA
IL LEE's Ballpoint Abstractions are currently on view at the San Jose Museum of Art through Sunday, July 8, 2007. Watch the video above for a sample of his technique and finished works. However, you truly need to see his art up close and in person to recognize it's importance. This is Mr. Lee's first "survey" exhibit curated by JoAnne Northrup. Many of the works are truly awe-inspiring.

GOOD Magazine covers 11 Spring Street in NY
Perhaps you were like us back in December, stuck somewhere in the depths of your city's own Zero Tolerance instead of being able to get yourself out to 11 Spring Street in NY. A place that (even if for a brief moment in time) celebrated the essence of urban culture that gives so many of us our daily inspiration; Our raison d'etre.
If you're in need for a little inspiration today, a reason to RISE UP! and make a difference, check out the video that the folks of GOOD Magazine put together of the 11 Spring Street project.

Richard Avedon at Cantor Arts Center
In 1985 the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas first exhibited "In the American West: Photographs by Richard Avedon." Avedon had spent the years of 1979-1984 photographing oil field and slaughterhouse workers, drifters, mental patients, and waitresses; the results shattered stereotypes of the previously glorified inhabitants of America's frontier. Following its highly acclaimed tour more than twenty years ago, the project has not been seen in its entirety here in the United States. For the 20th anniversary exhibition on tour, 78 images, representing the project's most famous and important works, were selected. This is the final stop on the exhibit's tour. We highly recommend it.

Art's happenin'
One of the fun things after an opening is seeing all the new art announcements on our counter. These shows are coming up by people we really like.
Makiko Ogawa did a wonderful Phantom Galleries years ago so we're glad to see she's still painting. She will be showing at Globus Gallery in Locke through March.
Local legend Jai Tanju will be having an exhibit and book release party at Black & Brown Clothing on Friday, February 16th from 7-10pm. Looking forward to seeing what he's put together this time!
And if you haven't been by in a while, stop by for lunch at Good Karma Restaurant and check out the exhibit by Anabella Pinon and Miguel Machura. (Thanks in advance to Onibatsu for the use of the above image!)

ZeroOne Closing Party in SoFA tonight!
It's been quite a week to live in San Jose. We've had Akira Hasegawa in town, etoy corporation sharing Mission Eternity, pigeonblog overhead, Neighborhood Public Radio in the wired, San Jose Voices broadcasting our thoughts to the populus as they stroll by, Feral Robotic Dog packs led by Natalie Jeremijenko, ...it's the city we wanted to live in for just a week.
Well tonight is the closing party. A chance to say farewell to our new international friends on the streets of SoFA. Come out and join us all from 6 'til midnight with 3 stages of music starting at Anno Domini and ending at MACLA on South FIRST STREET. The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art presents A Painting Performance, a multi-media, interactive street event, by new media artist Clive McCarthy. His performance begins at sunset right in the middle of it all (451 South First Street). See you downtown!

Simmer Down Sprinter comes to San Jose!

Simmer Down Sprinter is a two player, sit-down, arcade style video game designed and programmed by artist Steve Lambert in which players compete to move runners around a track. The game is controlled by player’s bio-feedback. The more relaxed the player becomes, the faster the runner moves around the track. Essentially it is a game of competitive relaxation.
Be sure to visit Anno Domini between August 8-12 to test your powers of repose against your friends and foe when Simmer Down Sprinter will be installed in AD's storefront at the gallery. Be sure to bring quarters!
This exhibition coincides with the ZeroOne San Jose Festival.

Navin June Norling
Thanks to those of you that made it out for Navin Norling's Opening Reception at Anno Domini this past Friday. To those of you that were deterred as a result of San Jose's Cinqo de Mayo welcoming committee, aka... the police blockades, we're sorry for the inconvenience. We heard some of you trekked distances as far as Los Angeles only to be turned away at the limits of our fine downtown. Such a shame that safety has to come this way.
Be sure to stop through to see Navin's exhibit, BOOTLEG BABY, through June 17, 2006. It was great having him out here with us on the West Coast.
